Brigadier General William Birney will detail a colonel of his command for corps-officer of the day to report at once at these headquarters. General Birney will cause such a distribution to be made of the force left in the intrenchments as best to provide for the safety of the position, paying especial attention to the left of the line. He is authorized to reduce the force to one regiment.
