Commanding Cavalry, Army of the Potomac:I send you a copy of a statement* of deserters from the Tenth Virginia Cavalry. The major-general commanding thinks that a strong scouting force thrown out rapidly might capture and effectually disperse for a time the scouting parties of the enemy infesting the parts of the country indicated in the statement.
