My standard for brigadier-general is high. I would recommend from what I have seen of them Colonel J. H. Potter, Twelfth New Hampshire Volunteers; Colonel J. Jourdan, One hundred and fifty-eighth New York Volunteers. But the following are highly spoken of, too: Colonel Guy V. Henry, Fortieth Massachusetts volunteers; Colonel A. F. Stevens, Thirteenth New Hampshire, and Colonel Duncan, of the colored troops.
