I. Respectfully referred to the commanding officers of regiments, who will keep their commands in readiness according to direction of the general commanding division.

II. The brigade officer of the day will comply with the instruction of general commanding division and report any movement at once to colonel commanding the brigade, and will turn over said instruction to succeeding brigade officer of the day.

COLONEL: The brigade-general commanding directs me to inform you that in case the enemy attempts to turn our right flank the Fifth U. S. Colored Troops will, in that case, be ordered report to Colonel J. W. Ames, commanding Third Brigade, and you will so dispose of your two remaining regiment as to cover the line now held by your entire brigade. You will see that the Fifth U. S. Colored Troops is supplied at once with two days' rations, uncooked.
