GENERAL: I have the honor to reports that this command has been in the trenches in the immediate presence of the enemy all the time since it arrived at Petersburg, with the exception that on July 30 one division and one brigade were held in reserve to support the column of attack, and on August 14 the whole corps was relieved by the Ninth, and was in reserve until the 18th, when it moved to the Weldon railroad.
