MAJOR: I am instructed to inform you that a dispatch was sent this forenoon to General Bragg from Colonel Leventhorpe, at Hamilton, N. C., to the effect that two of his regiments had been sent to this place via Rocky Mount and Tarborough. Colonel Leventhorpe reports the enemy re-enforcing at Plymouth, and states that the troops can ill be spared, but that he will not recall them without orders from General Bragg. No advises have as yet been received as to the time of their probable arrival.

Following dispatch from Colonel Pool, Goldsborough, just received and submitted to General Holmes:

General Hoke, with 660 men of Hagood's brigade and North Carolina home guards, have just left. Other trains between this point and Greensborough. Will forward as soon as they arrive.

The fleet left Beaufort 17th, 18th, and 19th. None there the 23rd. Forces at New Berne, 3,000 to 4,000; Morehead City, 1,000. That is the best information I can get.
