Chattahoochee River at 4. 30 p. m. November 15, marched at 6 a. m. ; reached Atlanta 2 p. m. ; went southeast of city and camped; drew clothing and rations. November 16, were ordered to move at 7 a. m., of Stone Mountain; camped at 7 p. m. November 17, moved at 6. 30 a. m. ; reached Lithonia 1. 15 p. m. ; went three miles farther and commenced destruction of railroad; burned about ----; went into camp at Conyers Station at 7 p. m. November 18, marched at 6 a. m. ; were train guards; reached Covington 1. 15 p. m. ; here left the railroad to our left and went toward Eatonton; camped at 4 p. m. November 19, marched at 6 a. m. ; rainy; made camp at 4. 30 p. m. November 20, marched at 6. 45 a. m. ; were in advance of the corps; went to one mile of Eatonton Cedar Creek. November 23, started at 6 a. m. ; camped at sundown two miles from Milledgeville. November 24, moved at 9. 40 a. m. ; reached Milledgeville 10. 20; crossed Oconee River and went into camp six miles from town. November 25, marched at 6 a. m. ; camped from 7 to 10. 30 p. m. six miles from Sandersville; were train guards. November 26, marched at 6. 15 a. m. ; went into town 9. 15; went to east side of town and camped. November 27, marched at 6 a. m. ; camped at sundown. November 28, moved at 7 a. m. ; camped at 8. 30 p. m. one mile east of Louisville; here remained until December 1. The regiment had three companies on grand guard east of camp, when were attacked by about-mounted infantry. Our men charged and drove them across an open field, where they rallied and tried to drive our men back, but failed. The enemy lost three killed and several wounded. No loss on our side.

December 1, started at 12 m. ; went into camp 7. 30 p. m. December 2, moved at 9 a. m. ; were train guards; halted about sundown. December 3, marched at 10 a. m. ; were train guards; went into camp between 11 p. m. and 2 a. m. the 4th. December 4, started about 8 a. m. ; crossed the Augusta railroad at 10 a. m. ; went into camp at 7 p. m. December 5, moved at 6. 30 a. m. ; went into camp at buck Creek, on old River road; regiment on grand guard. December 6, brigade in rear; moved at 10 a. m. ; went into camp at 9 p. m. December 7, moved at 7. 30; camped near Ebenezer Creek soon after dark. December 8, marched at 10 a. m. ; then went back three miles; moved very slow; camped at 11. 30 p. m. December 9, moved at 7. 30 a. m. ; made camp at 4 p. m. December 10, moved at 7. 30; went to railroad and remained until 3. 30, when went on grand guard on Augusta road. December 11, at 9 a. m. were relieved; went to Conyer's, and on toward Savannah; went to five miles of town; crossed to right of Georgia Central Railroad; went into position near Telfrair Station, and about four miles and a half from the city; no calls allowed to be sounded or camp fires at night. December 14, had orders to lay out camp in regular order. December 16 and 20, regiment on grand guard. December 21, had orders to be ready to move at 8 a. m., but did not start until about 9 a. m. the 22d; went about one mile and a half nearer the city and went into camp.

Distance marched during the month of October, 210 miles; November, 233 miles; December, 126 miles; total, 569 miles.
