Numbers 152. Report of Colonel George S. Acker, Ninth Michigan Cavalry. HEADQUARTERS NINTH MICHIGAN VOLUNTEER CAVALRY, December 19, 1864.

Herewith find a report of this campaign from November 14, 1864, to December 17, 1864:

Ninth Michigan Cavalry left camp near Atlanta on the 14th day of November, 1864, and moved on the Fairburn road, five miles in advance of the Second Brigade, Cavalry Division, where we encamped for the night. November 15, left camp and moved to within five miles of Jonesborough, Third Battalion being in the advance; drove in the enemy's picket. November 16, passing through Jonesborough, Lovejoy's, and Bear Creek Stations, moved three miles on the McDonough road and encamped for the night. November 17, left camp and marched about twenty-two miles and encamped for the night. 18th, marched fifteen miles. 19th, crossing the Ocmulgee, passed through Hillsborough and on to Clinton; arrived at 3 p. m. and encamped. During that day we marched thirty-nine miles and took six prisoners. 20th, Companies B, C, and D, being detached for a scout to Griswold Station in charge of Captain Ladd, meeting the enemy, but keeping them at bay, burned the town, destroying the railroad, cutting the telegraph wire, burned a train of cars. Fighting their way back, they returned to the regiment on the 23rd of November, with the loss of 1 wounded and 3 captured. The remainder of the regiment left Clinton and marched to within three miles of Macon and moved back five miles on the Milledgeville road,
