The Twelfth Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry is hereby detailed for special duty to escort prisoners of war to Hilton Head in compliance with paragraph I, Special Field Orders, d Numbers 198, current series, from department headquarters, and will, without delay, report to Major Frank C. Gillette, provost-marshal Fifteenth Army Corps, for instructions. The regiment must be supplied, if possible, before leaving the place with five days' rations, which if not procured must be drawn at the nearest depot.
