COLONEL: The enemy is gone. General Woods has a regiment across. The general directs that you push your brigade over, using the small boats, and move to the railroad, holding the same so as to cover the crossing of the Third Division. Make all haste possible.

CAPTAIN: I have the honor to report that General Leggett's division is encamped on the Ogeechee road, on the edge of the city. One brigade of General Smith's division is at the same place, and one brigade at King's Bridge. General Sprague's brigade, of the First Division, is at the mouth of the canal, and the other two brigades are still out on the Gulf road, but should be back to-night. One regiment from the Third Division is on the road to the rear of our headquarters. A report of the guns captured will be sent in as soon as ascertained.

CAPTAIN: I have the honor to report the following as the number of pieces of artillery captured by this corps to-day: smooth, nine 32-pounders, three 24-pounders, two 12-pounders, three 6-pounders; one 20-ponders Parrott, one 10-pounders Parott-in all nineteen pieces. I also have the honor to report that Major-General Mower has reached camp.
