I. Brigadier General S. R. Gist will proceed immediately with three regiments and a light battery of his command to Pocotaligo to re-enforce the troops in that vicinity now threatened by the enemy. The command will move without baggage and take three days' cooked provisions.

II. Brigadier-General Gist will give such instructions to the commanding officer on James Island as may be necessary for the public service during his absence.
