COLONEL: The major-general commanding directs that on the arrival of four companies Forty-second Massachusetts Militia at your present camp, you move with your entire regiment to the Baltimore and Washington depot in this city, at which you will take cars for winchester, Va., via Harper's Ferry. On your arrival at winchester you will report for duty to the commanding officer at the place. The men should carry three days' cooked rations and 100 rounds of ammunition per man. Your regimental quartermaster should at once report to the chief quartermaster of this department for preparation of transportation.
