GENERAL: Please ascertain whether General Green, who issued an order to his brigade at Syracuse on the 29th ultimo, holds a commission from Governor Seymour in the militia of New York; what is the number and efficiency of his force; of what arm of the service it is composed; and any facts showing its fitness for duty in the field.
