SIR: I have the honor to report that last night I established a line of pickets form Watkins' house, above Bottom's Bridge, extending west to Dispatch Station; thence for about three miles along the Cold Harbor road, in the direction of the Hanover road. On this side of the Chickahominy I have placed a patrol to examine the river banks from Bottom's to Long Bridge. I have just received a report from the pickets and patrol; all quiet.

GENERAL: There are no signs of the enemy on the New Market road. Our scouts have advanced to within one mile and a half of Nnew Market. The Quaker and new Charles City roads have been patrolled, and have found no trace of the enemy near our lines.

I have just returned from the north side of the Chickahominy. All quiet there.
