1. Major General J. D . Cox, U. S . Volunteers, having reported to the major-general commanding, nis hereby assigned to the command of the District of Western Virginia, embracing Western Virginia andthe counties in Ohio adjacent thereto and bordering on the Ohio River.

2. Brigadier General Quincy A. Gillmore, U. S . Vounteers, now in Cincinnati, Ohio, will proceed to Covington, Ky., and report for duty to Major General G. Granger, U. S . Volunteerz, commanding the Army of Kentucky.

4. The following troops now with the division of Brigadier G en. George W. Morgan, u. S. Volunteers, at Potland, Ohio, will proceed without delay to Covingto, Ky., where the resepctive commanders' will report forduty to Major General G. Granger, U. S. Voolunteers, commanding the Army of Kentucky, viz: Fourteenth Regiment Kentucky Volunteers, Colonel Cocahran; Ninettenth Regiment Kentcky Volunteers, Colonel Landram; Thirty- third Regiment Indiana Volunteers, Colonel Coburn; Ninth Ohio Battery, Captain Wetmore. * * *

5. Co. Samuel A. Gilbert, Forty- fourth Ohio Volunteers, will proceedwithhis regiment, now at point Pleasant, W. Va., to Covington, Ky., and report for duty to Major General G. GHranger, U. S. Volunteers, commanding the Army of Kentucky. * * *
