COLONEL: I to-day advanced the skirmish line of my command up the slope of Kenesaw Mountain to within about 150 or 200 yards of the crest, when, finding them to be unsupported on the right and left flank, I ordered them to retire to the base. My loss was between ten and fifteen killed and wounded.
