A thousand prisoners will reach here this morning, and other large numbers expected. What am I to do with them? All appropriate building are taken as hospitals. I have no guard for them, unless the Lynchburg militia organization be placed under my control and the reserve forces from the adjoining couties be called out temporarily for the purpose. Will you be kind enough to order them out.
