Chester Station reports Yankee cavalry advancing on the jucntion and that the roads were full of them. Will report again soon as I can hear more definitely. Have telegraphed Petersburg, via Lynchburg, to advise Genal Pickett of the rumor. Pickets sttioned at Chester or thereabouts say no doubt of the Yankees now being on railroad.

I am hurrying troops through as rapidly as possible. Ranosm's, Hoke's, Hagood's, Wise's, and Evans' nbrigades have passed through. Kemper's and COrse's brigades will bne here during the night. Read's battalion of artillery arrivedhere to- day on the cars; are waitning at
