GENERAL: The general commanding directs that you move your command to-morrow over to the plank road to a point at or near Salem Church, which is about six miles from Fredericksburg. The movement is designed to place your division premanently there for the present, and will consequently be neseccary for you to make arrangements to move your tents, baggage, equipage, &c., gradually to your new position. I am further directed to say that your best route will be by the Mine road, which will take you near your destination. You will readily be able to ascertain where will have to turn off from that road to gain the plank road. Please let me know at what hour in the morning you will probably be able to move, and I will send come couriers with you to learn your position and the locality of your new headuqarters.

GENERAL: The general commanding has directed me to communicate to you that the indications of an attempt on the part of the enemy to cross the river above Bank's Ford are renewed and strong. He desires that you will be constantly on the alert of such demonstrations, and also communicate to General Wright the existence of the indications referred to above. He should be instructed the left you know promptly of any movement near him, and to call for re-enforecement should he need them in defending his position, and the general desires you to be prepared to re-enforce him to the extent that may be necessary. I am directed to notofy you that Major-General Pickett has been directed to move his division to-morrow to a point near Salem Church, on the plank road.
