MAJOR: As commandant of the post you will take direction of the defenses of Milledgeville, indicating to Captain Fay, the engineer, such changes in his plans as the new condition of affairs, owing to the fall of Atlanta, may render necessary.
Captain Fay was defending the city against a cavalry raid. We may be called on to meet a heavier and more deliberate attack. * * *
