GENERAL: Last night I received orders to withdraw from the Fourteenth Corps all excepting three brigades, and move to the right of the Twenty-third Corps. This was accomplished by 5 o'clock this morning. This force was to support a movement to be made by a part of the Twenty-third Corps. Nothing was accomplished during the day, and the troops returned to their positions after dark this evening. Nothing of interest occurred on the line during the day. I inclose casualty report of yesterday.*

Commanding Twentieth Army Corps:

GENERAL: I have the honor to report that the enemy's troops in works on right of four-gun fort moved up as reported yesterday and occupied trenches. A squad of twelve marched to rear into ravine; all had knapsacks and arms. The six-gun fort in front General Geary was struck frequently during day be shells from heavy gun on left, one causing something like an explosion of a caisson. This same report, general, has been sent by the chief signal officer to General Thomas.
