I am now prepared to report the result of the enemy's assault upon this division on the 31st ultimo, as follows: Killed of the enemy and buried, 186; captured unhurt, 99; captured and wounded, 79; total 364. There were also taken 2 stand of colors and over 1,000 stand small-arms. The usual proportion wounded give about 1,000 wounded, and among them was known the be Major General Patton Anderson.
