Commanding Division:

GENERAL: The lieutenant-general commanding directs me to say that he wishes you to relieve those detached parties, on duty with you, of General G. W. Smith's command, and order them to report back. He also directs me to inform you that the brigade of your division on the other side of the river is not on duty at present, and will be sent to you whenever it is needed: but as the enemy is threatening Generals Clayton's and Brown's positions he desires to keep it there until it is necessary to send it to you. Major-General Cheatham with his division is lying near Turner's Ferry, and will be sent to your support whenever it is necessary.

I have the honor to report that for the last three days I have received but 13 pounds of corn for this command: On the 5th we received 5 pounds per horse; on the 6th, 6 pounds, and on the 7th, 2 pounds; total, 13 pounds.
