GENERAL: The general commanding desires to call your attention to the importance of sending a regiment from each division, in case the enemy should attack yourself and General Maney, to the support of the cavalry in the gap between yourself and General Maney.

Major-General CLEBURNE:

GENERAL: At dark you will withdraw your division within the city defenses. You will not take position on the line, but will bivouac your troops, with your left to the right (looking from Atlanta) of the railroad. Your skirmishers will be left out, and will accompany your present line of defenses. It is proper to inform you that Cheatham's corps will also withdraw into the city defenses. The general enjoins watchfulness upon your skirmishers.
