Artillery officers and men in the trenches are directed to fire upon any man, or group of men, who are discovered holding communication with the enemy.

General Hood desires me to thank you for note touching the probable movement of the enemy. he has directed all parties to keep an unusually sharp lookout tonight. he thinks the lines about equally strong. Has directed Scott's brigade to support featherston's and French's lines, to which the enemy is nearest. Probably the enemy would try to maintain his skirmishers in the position taken to-night to protect him where his line now is.
