APRIL 12, 1863,-Skirmish at Stewartsborough, Tenn.

Report of Colonel William W. Lowe, Fifth Iowa Cavalry.

FORT DONELSON, April 13, 1863.

Yesterday one company of the Fifth Iowa Cavalry, Captain [D. A.] Waters, of Major Garrid's [?] command (now out seizing horses), had a highly successful engagement with rebels, completely routing them, killing and wounding several, capturing 17 prisoners and 25 horses, besides arms, &c. Among the prisoners are Major Blanton, Captain Lealer, of Cox's regiment, and the adjutant and surgeon of Owen's battalion. This Blanton is the same who was captured during the winter by one of my scouting parties, and made his escape somewhere north of Cairo.
