The rebel skirmish line is about 1 mile from the field. I think they have tried Wadsworth's left. I will bear down to the left until I find him.

GENERAL: I find an opening and tolerable position for artillery about 1 1/2 miles from Lacy's house. I am at that point with two batteries and one brigade. Have a brigade stretched thinly through a piece of very thick woods, and one brigade near you.
