May 12, 1864 - 7.20 a. m.

[Captain C. B. MERVINE,

Assistant Adjutant-General:]

CAPTAIN: I have pushed my skirmishers on the right of the line to the Massaponax without resistance. In my front, however, I find a strong line. The cavalry outposts and patrols seem to be very vigilant on the road leading in upon our right flank.

G. K. WARREN,

Major-General.

G. K. WARREN,

Major-General.
