Honoring the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War

More than 150 years ago, thousands of men left their ordinary lives behind to protect the ideals of the United States. The names of the Civil War’s leaders, heroes and battles continue to stir our emotions and spark our imaginations. As we observe this 150th anniversary, America Remembers is proud to introduce the Robert E. Lee Tribute Revolver. Robert E. Lee is widely regarded by many as the finest general of the Civil War. His most notable victories included the Seven Days Battles, the Second Battle of Bull Run, the Battle of Fredericksburg, and the Battle of Chancellorsville. Lee proved an inspiring leader and worthy adversary on the battlefield. Over and over he led his men against the larger and better-equipped Union army and prevailed.

For this Tribute, we selected the renowned 1851 Navy Revolver, which Lee chose as he led his men in gray into battle. The right side of this Robert E. Lee Tribute Revolver features phrases from a famous quote by General Lee: “There is a True Glory” and “The Glory of Duty Done.”  The centerpiece features a portrait of Robert E. Lee, the Great Seal of the Confederacy, and more. The left side of the revolver features the words, “Robert E. Lee Tribute” with bold letters in 24-karat gold and the initials “CSA,” representing the Confederate States of America.

America Remembers also proudly presents the Union Forever Tribute Revolver, a handsomely decorated revolver honoring the courage and sacrifice of the Union soldiers who fought for freedom and unity, and the leaders who inspired them. For this Tribute, we selected the renowned Colt 1851 Navy Revolver, one of the most popular sidearms of its day. Only 150 Tributes will be issued in this strictly limited-edition, available through America Remembers.

The left side  includes the names of battles during the Civil War that are generally considered victories for the North including Gettysburg, Five Forks, Antietam, and Vicksburg. The right side highlights Lookout Mountain, Shiloh, Atlanta, and Franklin.  Artists have appointed the cylinder with striking portraits of President Abraham Lincoln, General Ulysses S. Grant, and Joshua Chamberlain. The left side identifies the revolver as “The Union Forever Tribute” with a scrolling nickel banner and also features the iconic American bald eagle, and a Union cavalryman and his mount.
