Friday Night Musical
Friday Night Musical
It’s a long ways from Woodstock, but the Historic Daniel Lady Farm is about to host a series of outdoor concerts under the twilight sky, but don’t expect tie-dye clothes and psychedelic rock.
The farm, owned and operated by the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association, will present live music every Friday evening in June and July. The only exception will be June 30 during the Gettysburg Anniversary Committee’s annual battle reenactment weekend.
Concerts of mainly 19th century selections will be held from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. between the house and barn that operated as Confederate field hospitals during the battle and afterward.
Performing artists will include Kent Courtney, the Susquehanna Travelers, the Gilford Station Bluegrass Gospel Band and the Fort Delaware Cornet Band.
Admission is $5 for adults and children 12 and under will be admitted free of charge.
“We’re looking at this foray into Civil War period music becoming an early-summer tradition at the Lady Farm,” said GBPA Vice-President Kirk Davis. “It’s another way to illuminate to the public the legacy of America at the time of the war and Gettysburg’s huge role in its outcome.”
