I inclose you to two following telegrams, which I received this morning from Donaldsonville. It is with great reluctance I detach any force from here, having already sent 250 men when the place ws first threatened. I will send the Twenty-sixth Massachusetts or a part of it:

NEW ORLEANS, VIA DONALDSONVILLE, June 28. (Received 8 a. m.)

General EMORY:

The enemy have attacked us and we have repulsed them. I want more men. I must have more men.

The First Louisiana Infantry and two sections of artillery have been ordered to Donaldsonville, and will arrive there at midnight. General Stone goes with them. Inform the commanding officer at Donaldsonville.
